Good Morning, people! Following our vacation, mentioned here, and the 4th of July long weekend my healthy eating got thrown out the window. Why is it always so hard to jump back into the swing of things after going on a fun trip and telling yourself it is ok to just eat and enjoy life. Ok, hopefully that’s not only me… Well, lets be real, you can tell yourself that every day and then wind up “enjoying life,” food wise and it becomes your not so healthy lifestyle; before you know it, all of your hard work has gone out the window. Whoops. So, now here we are thinking “what the heck happened to my discipline?!” and ready for a fresh start once again.
Enter Whole30 eating. I had never heard of this and have quickly realized that I am very late to the party. I have had my little toe dipped in the thinking I want to try The Paleo Diet; however, never took the plunge because it seemed like such a commitment and I am a really picky eater, so the challenge felt extremely intimidating. Also, meal planning… not easy! If you’re just starting a challenge or entirely new diet, be prepared to sit down for thirty minutes to an hour to research recipes, figuring out how the Whole 30 looks for you/your family, and deciding what your grocery consists of. Basically, our cabinets and refrigerator are cleaned out and ready to be refreshed, as are we!
I’m not sure what finally clicked in myself but, I am now ready to commit! An added bonus, other than weight loss and a healthy lifestyle of course, is that it is said to do wonders for your body. I’m not sure if I’ve ever talked about it here but, I have an autoimmune disease and am subjected to giving myself injections once a week to maintain my ability to physically function. The reason I mention that is because I’ve heard so many miraculous stories about people with various autoimmune diseases, where they have basically cured themselves post-Whole30 & living on a Paleo Diet. I’d like to see how I feel following the first 30 days and really try to stick with The Paleo Diet afterwards. Of course allowing myself a few cheat days here and there, because a girl simply cannot live without sugar for the rest of her life. Can I get an Amen! Thank you Lord for creating sugar, which without I wouldn’t be capable of surviving that magical week each month…
In the spirit of not boring any of you lovely readers, here are a few photos off of my phone from our wonderful 4th of July weekend spent in Mammoth… attempting to beat the heat as we returned to the 102 degree, blazing desert sun. Remind me again why I live here? I can’t remember!
Wah!!! How did I not get one photo of just the hubs and I waving our flags ever so proudly?! Fail. Will do better next time. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and, even better, are having a wonderful Monday even though Monday blues are a real thing! Please tell me about your experience with the Whole 30 and or living on The Paleo Diet & how it has changed your life! I need all the motivation I can get over here!
