Happy Friday!!! Today we’re hittin the road jacks, going on a road trip for a weekend out of town. Fortunately, where we live, we are pretty much two hours driving distance from everything… city, mountains, lake, ocean, you get the idea. Thus far, we haven’t done a super long trip in the car with Hudson. Pretty much just gone within our two hour neighbor locations and Hudson has always done great. This weekend that’s going to change, we’re talking a 3 ½-4 hour road trip all the way out to Palm Desert… more on that later. While we aren’t going all the way in one stretch, it is going to be a lot of car time so I’m anxious to see how he does. Not to mention, his first plane ride and our first plane ride as parents in a few short weeks. So, I wanted to share a little bit of what works for us, how we plan, what we bring and all that jazz. Eventually, what we learned and how we applied that to our first plane ride as a family. Here we go!
In terms of schedule, we try not to disrupt him too much. We’re going to keep his bed time and routine the same of course, but try and get his naps in during travel times. If all else fails and he needs a nap at our destination, the Ergo carrier is the ultimate nap enforcer. He loves it. Any other mamas know what i’m saying?!
First, a little mama + mini style shot to give you a little hint to where we’re going! Anyone figure it out?! And also because, I like to match my little man while he still thinks I’m cool.
Next, the essentials for an overnight stay. A fully stocked diaper bag including diapers & wipes of course, (my diaper bag is out of stock but, I’ve been eyeing up this one) & a weekend bag. This was an old freebie from Victorias Secret, some other cute weekend bags here and here. We also bring a pack’n play for bed time and we won’t forget his favorite blankey.
And of course, we come prepared stocked up with his favorite snacks, pouches, sippy cup, babas (as we call them), twist on spoons, and bibs for meal time. So, these are the bibs you want to own. They are not easily yanked off and all you have to do is rinse when feeding time is over. These twist on spoons are seriously the best. Makes feeding on the go so easy. Hudson loves his water, so you better bet we always have a sippy for him near by. Lastly, and most importantly, a baba. We will always pack several as he still has quite a few bottles throughout the day.
Other essentials for us when we’re on the go, not pictured: Ergo baby carrier & our stroller. I loved the Solly Baby Wrap, but now that he’s bigger the Ergo is the way to go! I really want to get this new Ergo 360, as it gives several position options for baby and mama or dada. However, I can’t really justify the buy since he still loves the regular Ergo we currently have. Anyways, you don’t care about that. What are your plans for the weekend? Whatever you do, enjoy!
