It probably sounds cliché but, this truly is the most wonderful time of the year. While there is so much chaos going on in the world right now, I like to remember the reason for the season. Yes, people are nicer + the decorations are magic + gifts are exchanged BUT in all that we must remember that the savior was born. In the Christmas lights I choose to see the light of our Lord and love reflecting on that as I light up the exterior of our house. Which brings me to my next point, front porch Christmas decorations!
So, in years passed I have really only hung a wreath on our door (DIY tutorial here) and lights around the house. However, as I mentioned here, this year I was really inspired to add some Christmas spirit to our front porch too. Our front porch is particularly narrow so I didn’t want to add too much, that it would be excessively busy. I also prefer simplicity, with that in mind I picked up a few mini trees, some poinsettias, and a lit garland from Home Depot; to adorn the door. You see what I did there? Adorned life… adorn the door. Ok, moving on… The point is, even with minimal space and simple decor you can enhance your home just that much more. Plus, it smells good so there’s that.
ps – to all you DIYers out there… how do you hide the dang extension cords?! Our outdoor outlets are placed in the worst place, that the extension cords are difficult to hide. Without adding additional outlets, there’s got to be a clever way to hide them. I got nothing. Thoughts?
