So, it has been about two months now and I think we’re close enough for me to make a confession. Hi, my name is Hannah and I
‘m obsessed really like MAC cosmetics. Ok, so it is more like an intense addiction. Whew, glad I got that off my chest. Alright so, I found my makeup tray cluttered with the single eyeshadows from MAC and have been wanting to depot them for a loooooong time now. So, I’m excited to say I finally did it! However, I miscounted and left four eyeshadows out. MAN, math has never been my thing. The good news is that I filled an eyeshadow pallet and freed up some of my counter space. PLUS, I have an excuse to buy another palette and start filling that! Hallelujah!
drum roll please…. ta-da a MAC depotting tutorial at your service!
I used a knife and put it underneth the black tray that holds the eyeshadow pan. Push up slightly and it will pop right out. Once this piece was out, I placed it on my curling iron with a piece of foil in between the iron and pan. Using a straightener would be much easier; but, I don’t have one so I improvised.
Once the pan had heated enough to melt the glue, I took a pair of old tweezers pushing down slightly on the back of the tray. As you feel a bit of give, turn it over and carefully remove the pan from the tray. Now that the pan is out and cooled, I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol to remove the glue and then placed a magnet on the back. I also wrote the name of the eyeshadow with a sharpie, so I always know what I already have.
The black tray will snap right back into the original container and here’s the best part… once you collect six empties you can take them back to a MAC store and receive a free product in return!
The curling iron did take some time to melt the glue, so repeated step one in the mean time. This way the trays are all ready to go!
Finally, a filled palette and lots of space for more MAC products! Just make sure you count right so you don’t have extra singles laying around. Anyone out there tried the pro palette duo? I’m curious, but read some reviews that didn’t shine a great light…
I hope you enjoyed this one and found it every bit useful as I did!
ps. oh paleeeease tell me there are fellow MAC obsessed people out there. I cannot be alone in this!
