This past weekend we hit the road + headed down to San Diego for my hubby’s graduation. It was a full on family affair and even though his graduation was only one night, we decided to make a weekend out of it. We drove down Thursday afternoon and headed back to real life Sunday afternoon. Doesn’t the Sunday of a fun weekend always feel a little bit bitter, knowing that Monday is just hours away? I feel like I am always, always saying this but, for real though, Monday and I, we just haven’t become friends. Maybe someday…
So, back to the graduation, the actual ceremony was held on the USS Midway – pictures below! The deck was completely dressed up with flags and a bunch of different planes were out, available for attendees to go inside. I think they’re probably out all of the time, but I really enjoyed looking at them before the graduation started. They’ve actually turned the boat into a museum, which is pretty cool too. I’d recommend going for a visit if you’re ever in the area. The graduation ceremony was a standard 3ish hours long, followed by treats + drinks. Hudson sat this one out because sitting in a crowd, being quiet for more than a few minutes is quite the feat for my almost two-year-old. Don’t worry, he was walking distance away with his sweet Auntie that came out just to watch him while we were proudly watching Mike walk.
Now, the clothes. Naturally, I needed a new outfit for this shindig. Fortunately, I was shopping during the Nordstrom half yearly sale, which sadly is over now. Anyways, it was perfect timing because I found this dress, which was everything I was looking for. It is long, flowy, simple, and easily dressed up with the right accessories. I shopped this super cute Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bag and tossed it on with my newest pair of espadrilles. The weather is significantly cooler down there, so I went with a duster cardigan because of the cool breeze and called it a graduation appropriate outfit. What type of outfit do you gravitate toward for these types of events?
Have the best Monday today! xx
