Nothing says morning quite like a hot cup of coffee, especially for me. I am not a morning person whatsoever. It’s early… It’s cold… and pretty much nothing is cozier than my bed, enough said. Luckily, coffee is easily accessible and helps to break me out of my sleepy funk I usually wake up in. An added bonus, dipping your coffee mug in glitter for an extra happy morning wake up! Who’s with me?
This is a quick and easy DIY. It took me about an hour or less, drying time included. Now go out, grab your bff and get to crafting! Because creating is always more fun with an accomplice. Also, be sure to check out my last Coffee Mug DIY.
What you’ll need: painters tape, mod podge, a paint brush, craft glitter and a plain coffee mug.
Start by cleaning your coffee mug. Mine has been run through the dishwasher, then I cleaned the soon to be glittered part with alcohol.
Tape off the section to be glittered and evenly apply a coat of mod podge.
Pour glitter over the mod podged area. I put a paper plate under my mug as I poured the glitter. It caught all the glitter fall out and, bonus, makes it easy to pour back into the glitter container.
Remove tape immediately and allow mug to dry completely, about 15-20 minutes.
To seal, apply another light layer of mod podge on top of the glitter. Top’er off with coffee and wake up! (I’ve read Martha Stuart decoupage, gloss finish works even better than Mod Podge but we didn’t have any at my local Joann’s)
ps – to preserve the life of your mug, gently hand wash with soap and water.
