I’ve been on this train for far too long and I think we’ve finally made a stop. Is it just me or is the perfect concealer hard to or even, possibly impossible to come by? I don’t think I’ve reached my final destination; but, I do think I’ve made a stop for now. I’ve chronicled my four most recent concealers that I’ve used over the last 6 months-ish and what I loved and disliked about them all. Let’s go!
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer – in shade Neutralizer. I loved this for a long time and then something changed. I’m not sure what happened but, I started creasing a lot in my under eye area and I didn’t feel like it was enough coverage. After being fairly loyal to this one it was time to try something new, which led me to…
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – in shade Custard. I really gave this one a shot and stuck with it for probably about 3 months. While I feel that the formula feels really nice on the skin, it just wasn’t for me. It is definitely a good quality product; but, it just didn’t wear well on my skin. I’m thinking that someone with dry or more normal skin might love it. I have combination skin, for reference. After this I decided to try out another concealer that I’d heard nothing but rave reviews about.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer – in shade Medium Light Neutral. I really wanted to like this concealer. I actually wanted to love it. I loved the coverage of the concealer and, more than anything, I loved the applicator. It is a doe foot but, it is flat on both sides which is so different than any of the other applicators I have seen. As opposed to the NARS concealer that has an angled tip on just one side. For this one, I felt like their color range wasn’t wide enough and I was so bummed because I actually really like the formula. I need more of a yellow undertoned face product and, within my realm of colors, they all seemed to be too pink. Finally, I decided to go back to one that I had used many years ago.
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer – in shade NC20. The big winner and my current concealer. This is the shade pictured; however, it’s about a shade or two too light for me right now. What I do is mix a little with my foundation, which is two shades darker than what I wear during most of the year. It creates the perfect color for my under eye area. I have found that it settles the least into my fine lines and provides even more coverage than any of the aforementioned products. For now, it is a keeper. I never stick with one product for too long, though, because they’re always coming out with bigger and better things. So, we’ll see how long my commitment to this MAC product lasts.
What is your holy grail concealer?
