I’m not sure about you and your home, but coffee is a MUST in the mornings at this house. As for me, I prefer iced coffee… however, the hub, he drinks it black every single morning and a lot of it. Sometimes our schedules conflict and we don’t cross paths in the morning, so I thought I’d make some special coffee mugs to get a sweet message to him even if we’re not together to say “good morning”. If you and your significant other have opposing work schedules, a long distance relationship, etc., this is a great way to “be there” in the morning even when you can’t actually be there.
What I love about this DIY is that it is so simple and easy! All you’ll need is a couple ceramic mugs, I got mine from the Dollar Tree, a pencil, tape, and a sharpie!
I wanted to do a mustache mug too! I learned an easy technique for transferring images, just follow these simple steps!
Turn your image over and use a pencil to cover the image.
Flip the image back over, tape it to your mug, and trace it. Make sure you put a lot of pressure down when you trace the image, so the outline appears on the mug.
Take your sharpie and trace the outline; then, fill it in.
Aside from this quirky little mug, I also did a couple of mugs with little notes in my handwriting. Of course, you can use the transfer technique with any font, but I felt it would be more personal in my own handwriting. Now I definitely wanted to do the, oh so, cliche “Good Morning Handsome” cup, but I also wanted to do an inspiring, happy scripture.
I chose Lamentations 3:23, which says: “Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning”
Finally, pop these babies in the oven at 350 for 60 minutes and voilà personalized coffee mugs!
