I always love seeing home renovations and or room updates, to get inspiration for my home plus see how other people express their creativity. On that note, does anyone remember that show trading spaces? I might be aging myself but I’d say that’s when my love for home interiors began… Anyways, I am not a fan of the classic builder paint color. In our case it is kind of a yellow-off white-ivoryish color. Barf. I hate it… So in my taste, every single wall in our house needed/needs to be updated. Speaking of the wall color in our house, we recently finished a painting project in our to-be office space. The space in itself is nowhere near done but, let me just say, the color is so good. I’m in love. I didn’t take any before pre-painting pictures, shame on me, but you can see the ugly wall color here in yet another home project we have going. I swear, we always seem to have some home improvement mission going on and lately it’s painting and investing in furniture. Still haven’t adorned our big blank wall but, visually, I know exactly what it is going to look like! If only I had a money tree in my back yard. Who’s with me?! I guess that’s why they say, “patience is a virtue,” right? Still working on that one. And really, when are the home projects ever really done. So there’s that. Now, I guess I’ll get back to binge watching Lost while my sweet boy naps. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a Happy Hump Day!
[i know, don’t get me started on the wall color… its got to go!]
Does anyone else have that one, somewhat, awkward area in their house that has taken forever to figure out what to do with? Well, hopefully I’m not alone! I do love the style of having a “great room” where, as you walk through the entryway, everything opens up into one large area with a dining and living space all in one. The way we’ve set everything up leaves a huge empty canvas on a giant wall. Seriously, having a blank wall drives me crazy and its time for a change.
So what do I do to start the process of change? I hit the Pinterestsphere and started to pin, pin, pin, pin. This really gets my inspiration going. The only problem with this is you see too many great concepts and decide that everything needs to be revamped- light fixtures, dining table, bar stools, couch and the list goes on. What does this mean… time and money, Amen! Well anyways, one thing at a time. We’re starting with the huge. empty. wall. Slowly but surely, progress will be made. You mark my words!
As my style has evolved, currently I prefer a unique, modern, cohesive appearance. In the big bad world that is Pinterest, here’s where my inspiration remains:
The first one is definitely my favorite overall. What do you think?
Interior decorating is something I have a huge appreciation for. I love scouring Pinterest for home inspirations and definitely have an entire board devoted to them. As our home is most certainly a work in progress, I am still looking for floor to ceiling ideas for some rooms in addition to finishing touches in others. One of those finishing touches is area rugs. I love a good area rug in all rooms especially when you have tile or wood floors and extra specially when you have a little one at home. Unfortunately the area rug in our living room was ruined and I won’t go naming names or anything,
Clifford, but we’ll just say a four legged guy is to blame. And with tummy time happening more and more around these parts, we have been in search of something that would be neutral enough and protect Hudson from the hard tile.
I am definitely known for having slightly expensive taste and in this case I went straight for a pricier rug from West Elm. Before I bought anything though, I decided why not look around a little to see if I could find something similar for a cheaper price. Sure enough, I was able to find something extremely similar for much, much cheaper at Target. Even better Target is having a home goods sale right now so I actually snagged it for 15% off + free shipping. Done, I was sold. So I guess the moral of the story is always check tar jay before splurging.
I don’t know about you, but a little bit of organization can make our homes a lot more peaceful. In my life, mornings can be the most stressful times. I, for one, am not a morning person whatsoever. It does not matter how much sleep I get at night, the snooze button on my alarm always becomes my best friend at wakeup time. Since I am due into work at 6:30 am, my alarm promptly starts going off around 5am. I have every intention of waking up at this time; however, let me declare that I never manage to make it out of bed before 5:30… Usually in a rush to get ready, there’s nothing worse than a seriously messy, unorganized counter space…
I seriously contemplated showing my messy bathroom, but lets get real here! I must admit that this image is definitely a little conservative in relation to how messy my bathroom counter has been before, but you know what they say, always leave a little bit to the imagination. Plus, I can’t have you all thinking I’m a huge slob!
With a messy bathroom space and rushed mornings, organization is a dream. It makes everything easier to find and a hurried morning less stressful. To resolve this issue I found a tray for the counter space, creating a designated place for my everyday products.
Once I found a tray that I liked, I cleaned up the counter and then displayed only the things I needed on a daily basis. My things are now easy to find and lets be honest, this looks much better than the first image above.
Here are some trays that you can use to organize your counter:
