I have been a loyal user of the Beauty Blender for years. That is until I discovered the M439 foundation brush, the Beauty Blender is what I exclusively used to apply my foundation. The finish is always beautiful and can really be customized depending on how damp or dry your Beauty Blender is. For me, I usually keep mine on the drier side of damp. Cut to a few months ago, I was shopping at Ulta and came across the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I’ve seen it used by various different YouTubers and have always been curious. After using it exclusively for a month or so I must admit I love it, dare I say more than the beauty blender?! To me it feels softer on my skin and more comfortable in my hand. I love how the bottom is flat instead of rounded like the Beauty Blender. However, the Real Techniques sponge in my opinion, does stay a lot more wet than the beauty blender. I have to really work to get it to the dampness I prefer. All in all they’re both great sponges and will get the job done. If I had to decide between the two, I think I would probably pick the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge over the Beauty Blender. Not to mention the fact that it is a fraction of the price.
Dry on the left and damp on the right. It is hard to tell in pictures the size difference because here it only looks slightly larger. In person though, it is much bigger.
Dry on the left and damp on the right. Again, the sizes don’t look much different. But, like I said before, the damp sponge is much bigger in person.
Here’s the comparison in size when they’re both damp. Because the Real Techniques sponge is slightly bigger, it covers more of your face at a time, so we also get a quicker application. I’m not a huge fan of morning or spending hours in the bathroom, so this is a win for me.
If you’ve tried both, I’d love to hear which you’d commit to an why!
