As I mentioned here, November is a month packed with lots of special days. Among those days happens to be five birthdays. Yes, you heard right, FIVE! One happens to be hubs’. If you follow along on my instagram, you may have seen a few sneak peeks over there. For the record, I am NOT in any way shape or form a great cake decorator. However, I prefer to do special homemade things even though I might not be good at them… As I was doing this project, I said out loud more than once – “there has to be a trick or easy way to do this that I just do not know!” Later on to realize, this is one of those things you’re either simply gifted at or it takes lots of practice. So, lets think of these cupcakes as much needed “practice,” and or inspiration for an idea that your son, boyfriend, fiancé, husband, or any baseball lover in your life might enjoy.
Bake those cupcakes. I would give this recipe a try if I were you… Ahhhhhmazing!
Frost your cupcakes once they’re totally cooled; for me, this is the hardest step…
Using red icing, replicate the threads on a baseball.
So, I knew I was going to make these cupcakes but my initial intention was to share the steps to recreate a jersey cake. As you can see, I am HORRIBLE at cake decorating! The 8 is way to big and the 2 is not real proportionate; the P, however, I felt turned out ok! Once it was finished, I did not feel like it was blog worthy… but, still wanted to share an image with the finished project.
All that said, I hope this inspires you to get a little creative for the next birthday in your family!
